# EDD Docs Gateway

EDD Docs Gateway brings your product documentation to where customers are looking for it: right in the customer area of your Easy Digital Downloads store. You connect an EDD download to a GitHub Wiki, sync the Markdown pages to WordPress, and publish protected documentation URLs such as /docs/product-slug/installation/.

What EDD Docs Gateway Is For

The plugin is built for sellers of WordPress plugins, themes, templates, agency packages, and other digital products who already maintain their documentation on GitHub and don’t want to manually recreate it in their store.

One place for customers: Purchase, download, license, and documentation are all in the same store.No GitHub access required: Even private repositories remain private, while customers read the documentation in WordPress. Fewer support inquiries: Setup guides, FAQs, and known solutions are linked directly to the product.

How it works

Product documentation is enabled in the EDD download. You enter the GitHub repository and the docs slug. EDD Docs Gateway synchronizes the GitHub Wiki with local WordPress pages. Customers can only view the documentation if they are logged in and have access to the associated download.

GitHub Wiki sync for individual EDD downloads. Protected URLs under /docs/{product-slug}/.... Navigation from _Sidebar.md. Automatic rewriting of internal wiki links.Product page notes pointing to the relevant documentation. Manual sync button plus daily WP Cron sync. Clear admin error messages if GitHub, Markdown rendering, or server requirements are not met.

Requirements

WordPress 6.5 or newer.PHP 7.4 or newer. Easy Digital Downloads. A GitHub repository with the wiki enabled. Git on the server so the wiki can be synchronized.

License and Updates

The annual license costs 20 EUR plus VAT and is valid for one domain. With an active license key, you’ll receive automatic updates directly in the WordPress backend via EDD Software Licensing.
